Background
Backdoor is a platform designed for cybersecurity enthusiasts to practice and hone their skills. The platform intends to gamify the process by making the players solve challenges of varying difficulties and concerning various areas of cybersecurity (for example - cryptography, web exploitation, etc.).
Backdoor managed to garner 30,000+ users worldwide during its peak years, with solutions to various tough challenges made by players on the platform on YouTube to this day.
Core problem
The whole platform was managed by a couple of developers entirely from the backend servers. Everything from monitoring challenges and players to pushing notifications.
This posed prone-ness to bugs, errors and in-general friction to navigate and administer the whole platform for a small team. A GUI was essential for regulate the platform.
